Severe storms are possible in West Alabama this weekend ahead of a cold front expected to bring chilly weather to our area just in time for the holidays.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has placed most of West Alabama under a "limited" threat area for this round of severe storms which is currently forecast to impact our listening area between midnight Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday. These storms could bring tornadoes and damaging winds of up to 60 MPH.

Since these storms are expected to arrive in the overnight hours, it's especially important to ensure that you and your family have a way to receive weather warnings. Now is the time to check the batteries on your NOAA Weather Radio or download an app that can help wake you up if a tornado warning is issued where you live.
