On Tuesday inside Coleman Coliseum, the Alabama Men's basketball team  defeated the East Tennessee State Buccaneers 89-65. This game would serve as a last tune-up game for the Crimson Tide before beginning conference play against Ole' Miss next Tuesday night.

Before the game began, Alabama head coach Nate Oats announced that both senior guard John Petty Jr. and junior forward James Rojas would not dress in the game. It was not due to injury, but Oats said it was an "in-house decision."

Alabama would shoot the ball well in the first half of the game, finishing the half at just above 40 percent. The Tide would be led by sophomore guard Jaden Shackelford who shot 3-6 from the field with 10 points and an assist. Additionally, graduate guard Jordan Bruner finished the half with 2 of 4 shooting and 5 rebounds.

"I thought it was a good win, especially in the second half," Oats said. "Shackelford really got us going in the second half, but I was very happy with a lot of guys. I will see we got beat a lot in the first half, but we adjusted in the second half and it was a credit to all of our guys contributing and working hard."

The second half was all Alabama. Shackelford played a total of 36 minutes and finished the game scoring 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. As a team, Alabama would shoot 29 of 36 for 48 percent in field-goal range, and 12 for 34 from 3-point range. The big rebounding stat in this game was in offensive production. Alabama out rebounded ETSU 13-5 in offensive rebounding.

"Going into SEC play it is huge for us to progress and be ready for what is to come," Shackelford said. "It is great that I was able to improve and help our team win tonight, but I also want to make sure my teammates are supported. It is important for me to get them involved as well."
