Two LSU (39-11, 14-6 SEC) sacrifice flies proved to be the difference as Alabama left seven on base and lost for the first time while out-hitting an opponent this season.

The Tide outhit the Tigers, 8-6, and was led at the plate by senior Kayla Braud and her 3-for-4 evening. Freshman Haylie McCleney batted 2-for-3 while sophomore Danielle Richard was a perfect 2-for-2 with a home run.

Richard connected on her seventh home run of the season to pull the Tide within one in the fourth inning. Her solo shot caromed off the glove of left fielder Jacee Blades reaching over the wall to make a play.

Alabama sophomore Leslie Jury (15-4) was tagged with the tough loss. The right-hander allowed two runs on six hits while striking out one. Ashley Czechner (10-0) earned the win for the Tigers, scattering eight hits and allowing the one run while fanning one.

The two teams will close out the series on Saturday with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
