Stillman College Dominates Senior Night with 3-0 Sweep Over USSU
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Stillman College volleyball team made senior night unforgettable with a dominant 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-13, 25-15) over the United States Sports University Eagles on Monday night in Birthright Alumni Hall.
With the victory, Stillman improved to 5-15 on the season, while USSU dropped to 1-21 overall.
Katelyn Lawson led the Tigers' attack, recording 10 kills on an impressive .348 hitting percentage and adding six digs. Ava Cameron contributed seven kills, while Paige Eason chipped six kills, five digs, and four service aces. Setting duties were split between Karen White (11 assists) and Kelis Conley (10 assists), who also tallied five aces, five digs, and two blocks. Gracie Fjeldstad anchored the defense with a team-high nine digs. Erin Nelson led the front line with three blocks.
The Eagles started strong in the first set, jumping out to a 12-8 lead before Stillman rallied. A service ace from Conley brought the Tigers within one at 13-12, and a kill from Eason later gave them their first lead, 17-16. From there, Stillman closed out the set on a dominant run, allowing just one more point to claim the 25-18 win.
The second set began evenly at 5-5 until the Tigers surged ahead with straight points to seize control. A service ace from Lawson extended the lead to 19-10, and Stillman never looked back, cruising to a 25-13 victory.
USSU briefly led 1-0 in the third set, but Stillman quickly responded with three straight points, including back-to-back aces from Conley. The Tigers' advantage grew to 18-9 following an Eagles attack error, and an ace from Eason sealed the 25-15 final set to win to complete sweep.

Stillman College concludes its regular season HBCU Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 5, with a road matchup against Rust College at 6 p.m. The match was rescheduled from its original date of Oct. 3.
