TCHS Head Football Coach Resigns
Less than three months after taking the head coaching job at Tuscaloosa County High School, new Wildcats head football coach Brian Niedermeyer has resigned from the position according to a release from the school.
Niedermeyer took over for Miles Holcomb after Holcomb resigned in November following a 1-9 season and an 0-7 record in 7A, Region 3 play in 2024. The Wildcats did not reach the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season.
The statement read, "Tuscaloosa County High School announces today that Brian Neidermeyer, Head Coach of the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats, has made the decision to step down from his position in order to accept an opportunity at a higher level."
Ryan Phillips of the Tuscaloosa Patch confirmed the position would be with the NFL's Denver Broncos, although the Broncos have not announced the hire as of Wednesday afternoon.
Niedermeyer served as the Wildcats' defensive coordinator under Holcomb during the 2024 high school football season. He also coached tight ends at Tennessee under former Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Both were fired after the 2020 season following an internal investigation regarding recruiting violations.
He also spent time as an assistant coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before serving as the defensive coordinator at IMG Academy for two years.
