Third Saturday in October Rewind
Rivalries, star players, big plays and legendary coaches have helped to make college football one of the most popular sports in America.
When you talk about rivalries in the history of college football, the annual Third Saturday in October clash between Alabama and Tennessee has featured coaching titans such as Nick Saban, Paul "Bear" Bryant, Johnny Majors and General Robert Neyland.
The series has also been noted for the tendency for the teams to go on lengthy winning streaks. Alabama is currently enjoying an 11-game winning streak. Prior to Nick Saban's dominance over Tennessee, the Volunteers rattled off 10 of 12 games including seven in a row from 1995-2001. Other notable winning streaks in the series including a nine-game streak from 1986-1994 where the Crimson Tide went 8-0-1 against the Volunteers, a four-game Tennessee winning streak from 1982-1985 and an 11-game Alabama winning streak from 1971-1981.
