"And the roses at the grand old stadium are once again Crimson," said Gold as the clock struck zero.
The words were sweet and the Crimson Tide was once again on the top of the mountain of college football. Nick Saban won his second national title, his first as Alabama coach, defeating Mack Brown and Texas 37-21.
Alabama sophomore Marcell Dareus was the star of the show, knocking out senior Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and intercepting his backup for a touchdown at the end of the first half.
His offensive counterparts were the two headed rushing attack of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson, each rushing over 100 yards and two touchdowns in contest.
The Crimson Tide shut the door on the Texas backup quarterback Garrett Gilbert with a strip sack by senior linebacker Eryk Anders.
