Tigers Take Down The Stampede

It was an unfortunate loss for Paul W. Bryant as they played Minor at home tonight.

As the game of the week, Minor vs Paul W. Bryant is more than just a regular season match-up for Head Coach Christion Jones; coaching against his alma mater.

Each team hit the field for pre-game workouts, fired up to play against one another.

Tonight was not a bad game by far from either team as the defense made tremendous efforts to stop each other.

Paul W. Bryant starts the game by kicking to Minor High School stopping the returner around the 30-yard line.

Minor starts their drive with a handoff to the running back who is stuffed at the line of scrimmage by the Stampede defense.

The Tigers run a QB option next play for a first down. The Stampede were able to send the Minors' offense back to the sidelines as they sent the punt team to kick the ball away.

Bryant starts their drive with a quarterback run from No. 3 Javion Johnson who picked up about five yards on the play. The Tigers' defense came out swinging, as they held the offense to a three-and-out. Bryant punted the ball away, but a fortunate turn of events as Minor accidentally touched the punt allowing No. 10 Isaiah Plump to recover the punt for a Stampede first down. Now in enemy territory, quarterback Javion Johnson makes an Incredible Patrick Mahomes-like play as he dumps the ball off to his running back, No. 13 Brandon Johnson, who took the catch into the red zone for the Stampede. A few plays later, Javion Johnson found an open receiver, No. 7 Abram Hood,  in the end zone for Bryant’s first Touchdown of the game.

The point-after attempt by Diego Marquez was good putting the Stampede up 7-0 in the first quarter. Minor eventually kicks a field goal to get them on the board now down by four to the Stampede. The score was 7-10.

A rather defensive second quarter as the Minor defense grabbed a touchdown on a muffed punt by the Stampede; now on the board again Minor led the stampede entering half-time 7-10 after the point-after attempt was successful.

Bryant received the kick opening the second half, pushing downfield before turning the ball over to the Tigers once again.

After what seemed to be a struggle for each team, the Minor Tigers sealed the win after a Screen pass in the red zone for a touchdown. The Tigers added six more points on the board, with a 7-16 lead after a failed point after attempt. The Stampede looked for an answer in the last minutes of the game but were unable to make their way back downfield for the score. Minor eventually ran out the remainder of the clock for a Minor High School win.

Bryant will take on the Central Falcons next week in their first road game of the season. We wish all the best for the Stampede as they continue to improve on their mistakes and hopefully turn their season around.
