The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Tuscaloosa County and much of the rest of West Alabama in effect until 11 p.m. Thursday as a line of severe storms moves westward across the state.

The watch predicts some tornadoes, gusts of winds up to 70 mph and marble-sized hail in a large area as far north as Tuscaloosa and as far south as Mobile. The affected area includes a population of nearly 2 million Alabamians.
