Tuscaloosa Academy hosted 2A Greene County for homecoming on Friday, September 20th, where the Knights dominated the Tigers, winning 49-14.

Tuscaloosa Academy started strong, with senior quarterback Preston Lancaster throwing a 50-yard pass to senior wide receiver Kaleb Colgrove on the Knights' first drive of the game, setting up a first-and-goal within Green County's 5-yard line. Two plays later, Lancaster punched it in from the one-yard line to put the Knights on the board. With 6:23 left in the first quarter, the Knights led 7-0 thanks to a converted PAT.

Green County couldn't stop Lancaster and the Knights as Tuscaloosa Academy scored 21 more points in the first half to take a dominating 28-0 lead with less than a minute remaining in the first half.

The Tigers were unable to complete drives tonight because the Knights' defense was disciplined and did not allow anything to come from the passing game. Tuscaloosa Academy had three interceptions in the first half, one of which came with less than a minute left in the half when Knights senior outside linebacker Evers Sikes returned an interception for a 50-yard touchdown, putting the nail in the coffin and giving the Knights a 35-point lead at halftime.

Tuscaloosa Academy opened the second half with an impressive drive that concluded in a 20-yard touchdown throw from Lancaster to Kaleb Colgrove, extending the Knights' advantage to 42 points. This was the last play the starters played in the second half, after which the backups took over and finished the game.

Player of the Game

Preston Lancaster performed exceptionally tonight, recording four total touchdowns (three passing TDs and one rushing TD), and was a major contributor to the Knights' success tonight, with Preston Lancaster leading the charge for the beautiful air raid that resulted in the Senior quarterback completing three separate touchdown passes to three different wide receivers.

Tuscaloosa Academy will remain undefeated, with a perfect 5-0 record. TA will have a bye next week to prepare for their 2A Region 5 away game against the unbeaten 2A Vincent Yellow Jackets (Vincent, AL) on Friday, September 4th.
