Tuscaloosa County Wildcats Blown Out on the Road
The Tuscaloosa County Wildcats travel to Vestavia Hills to take on the Rebels for homecoming in this Friday night match-up. The Wildcats entered this game with seven losses in a row, while the Rebels hold a 3-4 record on the season, with three wins coming in Region 3 of 7A football. The Wildcats are struggling this season under new head coach Miles Holcomb, losing most games by a big margin.
This Friday unfortunately was no different as Vestavia Hills put the game away early in the first half, going up with a score of 21-0 before the first quarter was over. The Wildcats couldn't stop this Vestavia Hills team as the Rebels put up over 418 yards in the first half while Tuscaloosa County only put up just a little over 100 yards. The Wildcats had a good drive towards the end of the second quarter that almost ended in a touchdown but Vestavia Hills defense came away with an interception with 20 seconds left on the clock. Vestavia Hills ended the first half with 35 points over the Wildcats making the score 35-0.

Not much changed in the third quarter as Vestavia Hills has continued to dominate Tuscaloosa County. The Wildcats took a chance at a field goal at the mid-way mark of the third quarter to hopefully get on the board but the kick came up short, leaving the score at 35-0. With 3:30 left in the third quarter, The Rebels scored off an almost 40-yard pass attempt making the score now 42-0.
The Rebels shut out the Wildcats on homecoming 42-0 as the final score.
Not how you want your season to go if you are the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats. Losing eight games in a row can be discouraging for a team and school; the Wildcats have two more games left this season to get a win under their belts. The Wildcats will play Hewitt at home on October 25, 2024, and will travel to Cottondale to play the Paul W. Bryant Stampede on November 1, 2024.
