Freshman Calvin Ridley hasn’t played like an ordinary freshman this season.

And Saturday’s game against Arkansas only reaffirmed that.

With 1:39 left in the third quarter, quarterback Jake Coker found the freshman receiver for an 81-yard touchdown, giving the Crimson Tide a 10-7 lead. Ridley, who put a double move on the Arkansas defensive back to create separation, was wide open. It was the first play of the drive.

Following Ridley’s score, Alabama scored 17 more points across three of its next four possessions to build its lead up to 27-7 by the 2:44 mark in the fourth quarter. Alabama won 27-14.

Ridley finished the game with nine catches for 140 yards, along with his score. Last week at Georgia, Ridley had five receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown, which came on a 45-yard pass from Coker.

Through six games, Ridley leads the team in receptions (31), receiving yards (385) and receiving touchdowns (three, tied with Richard Mullaney).
