COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Minkah Fitzpatrick has put the ball into his hands three times in his Alabama career.

He's scored on all three occasions.

Fitzpatrick, a true freshman, scored twice on two separate interception returns during Alabama's 41-23 win at Texas A&M on Saturday.

Fitzpatrick, who has played extensively in every Alabama game this season, opened the scoring with a 33-yard interception return in the first quarter, then followed it up with a 55-yard return in the fourth quarter to end it.

On the first interception, Fitzpatrick jumped Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen's pass in the flat with 7:53 left in the first quarter to give the Tide an early 7-0 lead.

On the second interception, Allen threw it straight into the waiting arms of Fitzpatrick with 5:18 left to go to push the lead to 41-23.

Against Georgia two weeks ago in Athens, Fitzpatrick blocked and recovered a punt for a 1-yard score.

According to Alabama football's media relations staff, Fitzpatrick is the only player in Alabama history (via records verified back to 1948) to return two interceptions for scores in the same game.

Following his two scores against the Aggies, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back is now tied for second on the team in touchdowns this season with receivers Calvin Ridley and Richard Mullaney. (Derrick Henry has the team high in touchdowns with 12.)

For Alabama, it's now returned four interceptions for touchdowns this season, including a school-record three against the Aggies. Safety Eddie Jackson, who had two interceptions in the game, scored on a 93-yard return in the second quarter. Like Fitzpatrick, he also scored against the Bulldogs, returning an interception 50 yards at the start of the second half.

Between Fitzpatrick and Jackson, Alabama had 207 interception return yards against Texas A&M, also a school record and the third-most in SEC history. Most recently, Tennessee had 214 against South Carolina in 1971.

Former Crimson Tide defensive backs Javier Arenas and Justin Woodall returned a touchdown each against Arkansas in 2008 -- the previous single-game school record

Prior to this season, the Crimson Tide had not returned an interception for a touchdown since Landon Collins' 89-yard run back against Tennessee in 2013.

In Alabama's last visit to Texas A&M in 2013, former Crimson Tide safety Vinnie Sunseri returned an interception 73 yards for a touchdown.
