Legendary rockers ZZ Top are returning to the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater a little more than a year after the coronavirus pandemic forced them to cancel a planned concert there last year.

According to a press release from Red Mountain Entertainment and the city of Tuscaloosa, the instantly recognizable group will take the stage on Friday, July 30th for a non-socially distanced show.

The show is slated to kick off at 8 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30.

Tickets for the July event will go on sale Friday on ticketmaster.com and at the Amphitheater box office.

The show is the latest announcement from the Amphitheater, whose management said in March that they plan to have more than a dozen concerts there this year.

"We expect to have a full season, even if it may not start as early as we're used to," said Stacy Vaughn, the city of Tuscaloosa's Director of Public Services. "We expect and truly hope we'll have a full season with 14-18 shows from June to October."

Other announcements to date include a Jon Pardi concert in June and a show starring Brad Paisley a week before ZZ Top is set to play.

The Pardi show will be socially distanced, with tickets sold in groups called pods that will keep the Amphitheater at around 25 percent capacity. Arrangements for the Paisley show have not been announced, but the ZZ Top concert will not be socially distanced and may see the Amphitheater return to full capacity. Attendees will be encouraged but not required to wear face coverings to the shows.
