Tanner Bailey has announced he is committing to the University of Oregon. The 4-star quarterback of the 4A Alabama state runner-up Gordo Green Wave announced his decision via Twitter Monday afternoon.

Bailey has been notably recruited by Mississippi State and the Alabama Crimson Tide as a 2022 college prospect. After a February 27 visit to Eugene, it did not take long for Bailey to make his decision to play for head coach Mario Cristobal.

"I really didn't know what to expect up there," Bailey told Rivals affiliate Ducks Sports Authority. "I knew I couldn't see the coaches, I knew I couldn't see the facilities, and I knew it would be different from little ole Gordo, where I am from, so I went up there excited.

"The coaches were texting me all day as I walked around, and I loved everything I saw. I loved the campus. I loved the environment. I was so impressed with everything I was able to see."

Bailey told Rivals he made the decision that very day he would be joining the Ducks program.

"We talked more, coach Cristobal got involved, and they really made me feel like a priority," Bailey told Rivals. "Nobody recruited me the way they. Nobody made me feel the way Oregon did either, and that meant a lot.

Rivals.com rates Bailey a 4-star pro-style quarterback, good for a No. 10 ranking among quarterbacks in the country. Meanwhile 247Sports has him as the No. 9 pro-style quarterback.

Bailey is a three-year starter at quarterback for Gordo High School. Despite a mid-season injury, Bailey led the Green Wave to a State Championship appearance in Bryant-Denny Stadium for the 4A Alabama State Championship. Gordo lost to Handley 35-20.
