A look at Alabama’s new floor general
Ohio transfer Mark Sears is set to have a big year for the Tide as they look to improve after a frustrating 2021-22 campaign. Sears looks to add steadfast leadership and craftiness at the point guard position for this year's Alabama squad.
Sears, a former 3-star recruit per 247Sports, out of Hargrave Military Academy received offers from Ohio and South Alabama. Sears played two seasons at Ohio University and averaged 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists on 44% from the field, and 41% from behind the arc during his sophomore season in Athens. Sears entered the transfer portal on April 1. On April 7, Sears committed to the Capstone to return home for his junior season.
The Muscle Shoals native is a devious facilitator with a knack of getting into the lane. Along with a reliable jumper, the 6-foot guard will be an excellent fit in Nate Oats' 3-point happy system. Sears adds consistency and leadership to a team that desperately lacked in those categories last season.

Sears is apart of an impressive haul of fresh faces which includes fellow transfer from St. Bonaventure Dom Welch, one of the top JUCO transfers Nick Pringle, and 5-stars Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley. Sears is poised to be a leader on a young Alabama team in the hope that they can improve after an upsetting 2021-22 season.
