The nation's No. 1 safety and No. 12 overall player in the ’23 class has finally made a decision and will announce his commitment this Wednesday, July 27.

Coming out of Mill Creek High School in Hoschton Georgia, Downs was recruited by some of the nation’s top programs. Including Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

Downs visited Tuscaloosa three times with the most recent visit happening the weekend of June 17. He and his family were able to meet again with Coach Saban as well as coach Pete Golding.

It’s been noted that Downs has been a fan of coach Saban’s development of DBs in the past and has even gotten to meet former Bama safety and current Pittsburg Steeler, Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Downs’s parents have a small connection to the University of Alabama, as his mom spent time with the Bama business school, the Culverhouse, and the 1st and 10 Club.

According to 247Sports, their most recent crystal ball prediction has Downs committing to the Crimson Tide.

Caleb Downs will make his commitment on July 27 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
