Alabama Adds Jewel to 2023 Class in Nation’s No. 1 Edge Rusher
The Alabama Crimson Tide is in a massive period of transition as the 2022 football season comes to a close. Head coach Nick Saban is managing the transfer portal, hiring and firing coaches, recruiting for the future and preparing for a Sugar Bowl matchup with Kansas State at the end of the month.
Despite juggling so many different changing circumstances Saban and company are still dominating the college football landscape. The Crimson Tide adds to it's already No. 1 recruiting class as 5-star Keon Keeley announced on social media that he plans to commit to Alabama.
Keeley is considered a 5-star prospect and the No. 1 edge rusher in the country in the class of 2023. The 6-foot-6 rusher is rated at the No. 2 player in the state of Florida and the No. 10 player in the overall class by 247Sports.
Keeley is the third 5-star prospect in the Tide's 2023 class, joining Caleb Downs and Justice Haynes. Crimson Tide running back's coach Robert Gillespie and outside linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler served as the primary recruiters for the Tide. He ultimately chose Alabama over Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Alabama now has 25 commitments in the 2023 class with more prospects still out there to be had. The Crimson Tide may sign as many players as possible, as long as the roster adheres to the 85-man scholarship limit.
