The teams previously met in a tight contest Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, where Alabama prevailed 4-3. This will be the 11th time in history the two teams have met. The Crimson Tide lead the series 8-2, with a 7-2 at home record.

Following Saturday's loss against the Crimson Tide, the Hokies faced the loser of Game 4, which featured the Belmont Bruins and Jackson State Tigers. The Hokies eliminated the Bruins with an 11-1 victory.

The win sets up a rematch against the Crimson Tide in what is expected to be a showdown at Rhoads Stadium.

If Alabama wins, a second game will not be necessary, and the Crimson Tide will advance to the Super Regionals. Should the Hokies tie the series, a second game will be played at approximately 4:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the Super Regionals.

The game will be available on ESPN+.
