Alabama head coach Nate Oats met with the media Thursday to promote the C.M. Newton Classic in Birmingham that will take place December 17 against Gonzaga at Legacy Arena.

Oats also discussed the landscape of Alabama basketball including the roster makeup heading into next year. Alabama has one open scholarship left and the 2021 Sec Coach of the Year was asked what his plans are for handling it.

"As of right now we're not going to fill it, but it's still there if we happen to stumble upon something that makes a lot of sense"

Oats went on to say, "But the 12 guys we've got coming back are who we plan on rolling with, and I like them a lot."

Alabama will return five players from last years team including SEC All-Freshman Charles Bediako as well as sharp shooter Nimari Burnett.

The Crimson Tide also added two elite players from the transfer portal in Ohio transfer Mark Sears and Dominick Welch who is from Saint Bonaventure. Alabama will also be bringing in the fifth best recruiting class to add to an already loaded roster.

"We've got a good team. Some of the new guys are going to be really good. You guys are going to love watching them play", said Oats.
