Crimson Tide Transfer to Honor Buffalo Shooting Victims

On May 14, 2022, a gunman entered a supermarket in Buffalo and opened fire, killing ten and injuring three.
Welch, who recently joined the Crimson Tide in May after spending four years at St. Bonaventure in New York, is set to wear No. 10 this season as a tribute to those that lost their lives that day.
Welch averaged just over 12 points per game in 2021 and shot at an extremely high clip, knocking down almost 40% of this threes and finishing even better from the field.
Nate Oats spoke on the addition of Welch after his commitment, saying, "We are excited to have Dom join our program. He is a versatile wing who has experience and can really score the ball," Oats continued, "Dom is originally from Buffalo, so we were able to make an immediate connection. He is also someone who is going to come in and earn his playing time. He's a four-year starter and has had a lot of success both from a team and an individual standpoint."
Last season saw freshman center Charles Bediako wear No. 10 for the Tide, but with this announcement, the rising sophomore will have to debut a new number for his second year.
