TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama Baseball signee and former ACA Patriot Eric Hines has been named the state's Gatorade Player of the Year of the 2024-25 school year, Gatorade announced Tuesday morning.

“Eric Hines is a joy to coach because of the many outstanding qualities he brings to the team," said ACA head coach Del Howell. "He does things that you cannot teach, and he shows up in the biggest moments for his team. He is so consistent and is always striving to be a better player.”

Hines committed to Alabama in May of 2024 before signing with the program in January 2025.

During his senior campaign, Hines hit .438 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs across 49 games en route to a 5A state championship, potentially flashing enough of his ability to put himself on MLB draft boards this summer.

If Hines were to make it to campus this fall, he would have an opportunity to make an immediate impact on the roster in a vital year three for Rob Vaughn.
