The Georgia defense sacked Young three times and the defensive backs blanketed the Alabama receivers forcing the Heisman Trophy winner into 61 % completion on 57 pass attempts.

For the Bulldogs it marks the first national championship win since 1980 and the first win over Alabama since 2007.

The Crimson Tide will end the 2021 season with a 13-2 record as winners of the SEC Championship and likely with a Top 5 finish.
