Alabama Forward Braxton Key Talks about His Return for the 2017-2018 Season [Audio]
The center piece of discussion relating to Alabama’s 2017-2018 season has been the entrance of talented freshman such as John Petty and Collin Sexton.
In addition to their heralded freshman class, head coach Avery Johnson returns a group of experienced players that includes sophomore Braxton Key.
As a true freshman, the Oak Hill Academy product led the Crimson Tide in scoring last season averaging 12 points per game.
After the conclusion of the 2016-2017 basketball season, Key tested the waters by entering his name in the NBA Draft but did not hire an agent. The sophomore forward decided to return to Tuscaloosa for his second season with the Crimson Tide.
As Alabama prepares for their preseason excursion to Canada, Braxton Key spoke to reporters about his return to the team and going through the summer practices.
“It’s been great.” Key said. “Each day, we’re just taking it day-by-day. Workout’s been going great. It’s been fun working with the young guys, just getting in the gym with them and exercise.”
Key elaborated on the lessons he learned from the recent NBA Draft process.
“That I had to work. I was really far off from where my goal was. I wasn’t in the best shape. My jump shot wasn’t really defined, how to work my handle and become mentally stronger.” Key said.
Alabama’s returning forward later discussed the relationship he has with the freshman class and how they have been contributing during the summer practices.
Alabama basketball leaves for Canada August 4 and will play their first game as part of their Canadian tour Aug. 7 against McGill University in Montreal.
