Alabama Golf Earns No. 6 Seed In NCAA Regional
The Alabama Crimson Tide golf team has been selected to play in the 2021 NCAA Men's Golf Stillwater Regional. For the Crimson Tide program it is the 16th consecutive trip to the NCAA Regional round. The Tide will tee off in the 54-hole regional on May 17 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
"It's always good to see your name on the television. I know our guys are excited, when our name finally popped up, we were the last one. It's always a good feeling, it's what we've worked the whole year to do and really excited about going back to Karsten," said Alabama head coach Jay Seawell.
In addition to the program's 16th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Regional round, this year's selection marks the program's 24th appearance overall. Alabama has won the regional round four times in its history, in 2009, 2012, 2013 and in 2014.
The Crimson Tide will be paired with No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 Sam Houston State, No 9 Arkansas Little Rock, No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 11 Northwestern, No 12 College of Charleston and No. 13 Middle Tennessee State.
The top five finishing teams in the regional round will advance to the NCAA Finals. Alabama has advanced to the finals 11 times under Seawell and has won two national championships in 2013 and 2014 as well as finishing as runner up in 2012 and 2018.
Alabama has had success at Karsten Creek Golf Course, the Crimson Tide finished second overall in the NCAAs in 2018 at the 7,095-yard par 72 home of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Current Crimson Tide seniors Wilson Furr and Davis Shore were freshmen on the team that made the finals before falling to the Cowboys on their home course in the championship match.
