Alabama Men’s Tennis Kicks Off 2024-25 Season with Home SEC Challenge
The Alabama men’s tennis team is set to open its 2024-25 season with a bang as it hosts the SEC Challenge at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The three-day tournament, beginning this Friday, will feature top-tier talent from eight Southeastern Conference (SEC) programs, promising exciting and competitive matches.
Tournament Format
The SEC Challenge will see players from each participating school compete in pairs throughout the tournament. Each pair will engage in a total of three matches per round—one doubles and two singles. The duo that wins at least two of the three matches will advance in the compass draw format. Matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Central Time each day from Friday to Sunday.
The Competition
Alabama is not only hosting but also competing fiercely as one of the eight SEC schools participating in the event. The Crimson Tide will face formidable student-athletes from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt. Representing Alabama, the dynamic duo of Roan Jones and Andrii Zimnokh will compete together, while newcomers Carlos Gimenez Perez and Damien Nazar are set to make their Crimson Tide debut as a pair.
