MacIntyre, a 6-foot-6, 208-pound quarterback from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, began the season as the Volunteers' backup quarterback behind true freshman Faizon Brandon. MacIntyre took over in the second quarter of the Volunteers' 24-14 win over Auburn two weeks ago, completing eight-of-ten passes for 86 yards. He started the next week against Arkansas as Brandon dealt with a shoulder injury on his throwing arm, completing 18-of-29 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, but threw two interceptions.

I don't know that he was getting better as the game went on. I do think he finished really strong, but there were some really good things early in the football game, too," Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after MacIntyre's first start against the Razorbacks. "This game comes down to the finest of details. You know, right before half, the fumble, he's just got to clear the back. You know that that's something that's day one, but I thought he did a really good job in some adverse situations. Just playing the next play and pulling the trigger and it was it was a winning performance by him ultimately.”

MacIntyre was a four-star quarterback in the Volunteers' 2025 recruiting class, ranked as the No. 151 overall player, the No. 13, and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee. He held 36 total offers, including Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame, among others.

No. 6 Alabama will travel to Neyland Stadium to take on the 14th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, October 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
