Alabama Officially Names Graham Special Teams Coordinator
The Alabama Crimson Tide officially confirms the prior reports and names Jay Graham as its new special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. Graham comes to Tuscaloosa after coaching running backs for the University of Tennessee last season. Graham has spent time at several SEC schools including South Carolina, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
"We are pleased to be able to add Jay Graham to our staff," Saban said. "Jay is well respected across the country for his knowledge of the game and his ability to recruit. He has experience at numerous schools across the SEC footprint with a proven track record for his ability to teach the game and develop young men both on the field and in life."
Graham played running back in college for the Tennessee Vols from 1993-96. He rushed for 2,609 career yards and 25 career touchdowns. After a six-year professional career Graham returned to Knoxville as a graduate assistant.
Graham will replace Jeff Banks who left to join Steve Sarkisian's staff at Texas. Banks served as a top recruiter and Graham has a similar reputation as a strong recruiter.
Graham coaches Marcus Lattimore at South Carolina and coached Cam Akers, Dalvin Cook and Devonta Freeman at Florida State. His 15 years of experience will be crucial to keeping the Tide offense one of the best in the nation.
