Alabama Places 81 Student Athletes on SEC Fall Honor Roll
The University of Alabama had 81 of its student-athletes placed on the Southeastern Conference honor roll for the Fall 2021 semester which was announced by the conference's office in Birmingham today.
The SEC Champion Crimson Tide football team had 36 of its players honored for their academic standing, including Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, consensus first-team All-American Evan Neal, and Bronko Nagurski trophy winner Will Anderson Jr.
The next highest total of honorees comes from Alabama's soccer team with twenty. This follows a historic season for the ladies of the team where they made it to the second round of the NCAA Women's soccer tournament for the first time in the team's history.
Eleven of Bama's women's cross country members also earned a place on the roll, including 2021 NCAA runner-up and All-American Mercy Chelangat and Flomena Asekol.
Volleyball had nine honored athletes and men's cross country had five make the list.
To earn a spot on the SEC honor roll, an athlete must play an SEC championship sport or participate in a sport listed on their school's NCAA sports sponsorship form. The athlete must also have to have a 3.0-grade point average for the previous academic year with a sophomore or higher class standing.
This Fall honor roll takes into account all three of the semesters completed in the 2021 year - Spring, Summer, and Fall.
