Just less than a week after news broke Alabama running back Camar Wheaton was no longer enrolled in classes at the university, he has officially entered the transfer portal.

Wheaton did not see the field for the Crimson Tide as a true freshman in 2021 due to a meniscus injury he sustained in practice early last fall.

A 5-star recruit coming out of Lakeview Centennial High School in Texas, Wheaton was ranked as the No. 3 running back in the 2021 class, the No. 6 player in his state, and the No. 34 overall prospect by 247Sports.

Wheaton is now the 13th member of the 2021 Tide team to officially enter the transfer portal. Players do have the ability to withdraw their name from the portal, as Alabama linebacker Jaylen Moody did just a couple of weeks ago.

Wheaton, who was originally committed to Oklahoma before flipping to Alabama, has been linked by Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports to SMU as a possible place for him to land. SMU was considered a favorite in his original recruitment process alongside Oklahoma and Alabama.

If Wheaton does decide to transfer elsewhere, Alabama's RB room in 2022 could still consist of Georgia Tech transfer Jahmyr Gibbs, Jase Mclellan, Roydell Williams, Trey Sanders, and 2022 5-star recruit Emmanuel Henderson.
