Alabama senior guard Retin Obasohan has been selected to participate in the 2016 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which is slated to begin on Wednesday, April 13, in Portsmouth, Va.

The four-day, 12-game tournament, which will be held from April 13-16, is in its 64th year and is one of the top professional showcases in the nation. The tournament features 64 seniors from various NCAA programs who will play in front of representatives from all 30 NBA teams, as well as scouts from numerous international leagues.

Obasohan is the third Alabama player in as many years, and seventh in the last nine years, to play in the event. Previous Tide players include: Levi Randolph (2015), Trevor Releford (2014), JaMychal Green (2012), Mikhail Torrance (2010), Alonzo Gee (2009) and Mykal Riley (2008).

Obasohan is coming off an outstanding senior season, in which he was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned first team All-SEC and SEC All-Defense Team honors. He was a two-time SEC Player of the Week honoree and the first Alabama player to achieve the feat since Kennedy Winston in the 2004-05 season. The 6-2, 210-pound guard was also the first member of the Crimson Tide to average over 20.0 points per game in conference play since Buck Johnson in 1985-86 (20.6).

During the 2015-16 campaign, the senior co-captain led the Tide in scoring (17.6 ppg), steals (1.4 spg) and minutes (32.3 mpg), while also ranking second in assists (2.6 apg) and third in three-point percentage (.372). He recorded 14 games of 20-plus points which ranks ninth most in a single season in school history.

Obasohan leaves Alabama with 1,176 career points to rank 40th all-time. He scored 580 points in his senior season which is the 12th-best mark for single-season scoring in program history. The Antwerp, Belgium, native also ranks eighth at Alabama with 154 career steals.

Full rosters for the tournament will be released April 11.
