Alabama Soccer Pushes #6 TCU to OT in Tuscaloosa
The Tide almost washed away the Horned Frogs Thursday. A hotly contested matchup ended up going into overtime, with TCU coming out on top in the 92nd minute.
In the beginning however, things looked bleak for the Tide. TCU found their first goal of the game in the 34th minute, making 1-0 for TCU. Alabama however led 8-7 in shots, so the right moment would it all took for the Tide to even up the matchup.
That opportunity came in the 60th minute. Following a pass from Kate Henderson, midfielder Felicia Knox put one in the back of the net, tying the game at 1-1, and making it anyone's game to take.
After 90 minutes had elapsed, the game entered OT to decide the winner. In the 92nd minute, TCU broke through, scoring the winning goal off a header. While it was a tough loss, the Head coach of the Tide, Wes Hart, was still happy with his team's effort.
"Ultimately, we are judged by our results, so in that regards we failed tonight. But I'm incredibly proud of our players right now. I felt we dominated many facets of the game tonight, but just weren't good enough in the critical moment. I'm disappointed for our players. I hate saying it, but I felt they deserved better tonight. Despite the results, we've grown a ton these past few games. If we compete and play like this in SEC play, we can win a lot of games."
The Tide's next home game will be September 12 at 7 PM. UAB will come to town and it will be the 16th matchup between the teams.
