BATON ROUGE, La. - It was a tough Friday night in Baton Rouge for Alabama softball as the Crimson Tide couldn't find their footing in Game 1 of their weekend series against the LSU Tigers.

By the end of the first inning, the Tigers had already built a 3-0 lead, taking advantage of early pitching struggles and capitalizing on timely hits. The Crimson Tide struggled to settle in, both offensively and defensively, and found themselves playing catch-up from the jump.

The third inning truly tilted the game. With the Tigers already in control, they delivered a three-run surge that widened the gap to 6-0. That momentum shift proved that the Tigers were not slowing down and that the Crimson Tide were suddenly staring down a daunting deficit against one of the Southeastern Conference's most balanced lineups.

Heading into the fifth inning, the Tigers weren't done. They tacked on two more runs, making it 8-0 - a scoreline that turned the pressure all the way up for the Crimson Tide. With the mercy rule looming, the Crimson Tide needed a rally, but couldn't break through the wall that the Tigers had built.

For the Crimson Tide, it was a frustrating outing, but with two games left in the series, there's still time to bounce back.

The Crimson Tide will look to regroup and respond on Saturday night. Due to inclement weather the game will now start at 4 p.m. CT on SECNetwork+.
