Fouts and Hemphill are no strangers to the watch list. They both placed on the Top 50 list for the 2020 preseason and were also Player of the Year finalists in 2019.

This will be the first appearance on the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List for Kilfoyl and Sides.

Alongside No. 8 Alabama, No. 2 Washington and No. 1 UCLA have at least four players on the list.

Alabama leads the SEC with four players on the list. Mississippi State and Florida follow with three. Lastly, tied with one player each, are LSU and Auburn.

At the end of the year these SEC players and others will all be eligible to become USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Look out for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 25 Finalists. This list will be released on April 21.

USA Softball says that, “While an athlete does not have to be on the Watch List to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists.”

The Top 10 will be released on May 5 and the Top Three on May 19.

The 2021 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed June 1.
