Alabama men's basketball head coach Anthony Grant announced Monday that sophomore Shannon Hale will miss the remainder of the season with a foot injury.

The forward suffered the injury during the home game against South Carolina on February 24. Grant said he'll undergo surgery on Friday and miss the final two regular season games left on the Crimson Tide's schedule.

Hale started 15 games for Alabama this season before dealing with this latest setback. During the season, he was fourth on the team in scoring (8.2 ppg) while also averaging 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. During his first season on campus, the Johnson City, Tenn., native was a freshman All-SEC performer.

This is the second-consecutive week that the Alabama basketball team has announced a season-ending injury. Last week, guard Ricky Tarrant's junior year ended early due to a ruptured planter fascia.
