The Crimson Tide is getting a head start on its 2027 recruiting class, which is currently ranked eighth in the nation by 247 Sports. This class has four commitments so far, including two players rated as top-150 prospects: four-star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror, ranked as the 95th overall prospect, and four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams, ranked 103rd overall. On Wednesday, the Tide received positive news as they were listed among the top schools for a prospect ranked in the top 50 for the 2027 class.

On Wednesday, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported via X that class of 2027 Edge KJ Green is down to his top-12 schools, with Alabama being among Georgia, South Carolina, Florida State, Nebraska, Florida, Texas, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, USC, and Miami on Green's top 12 schools.

Green is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior Edge from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The junior Edge is one of the most high-key touted prospects in the class. On3 has Green ranked as the No.6 Edge in the class, No.4 player out of the state of Georgia, and the No.44 overall prospect in the 2027 class.

In Green's sophomore season at Stephenson, he finished the season with 63 Tackles, with 19 being tackles for loss, nine sacks, four quarterback hurries, and three forced fumbles. The talented Edge rusher is having a breakout Junior season with Green recording nine and a half sacks in his first four games of the season, according to 247 Sports' Andrew Ivins' Scouting report on Green.

Ivins' full scouting report on Green says, "Physical edge defender with the potential to create havoc on all three downs with his burst, power, and effort. Turned heads at Under Armour's Future 50 event summer after sophomore year and opened junior season up with 9.5 sacks in his first four games. Looks almost like an action figure with his muscle and should only continue to add good bulk in the coming years. Quick out of his stance and frequently the one to initiate contact. Fluid enough to cross obstacles or dart around them if he's not trying to play through them. Tends to hound the play with tremendous change-of-direction talent and will make his fair share of stops in pursuit. Has attacked from a variety of different alignments over the years and likely to offer that same inside-outside flexibility on Saturdays. Projects at this stage as a potential impact rusher for a College Football Playoff contender."

Green spent last weekend in Tallahassee, according to his X account, where he attended the matchup between Florida State and Miami, which ended in a loss for FSU. The four-star Edge recruit is scheduled to visit Alabama on October 18 for their matchup against conference rivals Tennessee. This will be Green's third visit to the campus, with his last visit occurring in the spring.

There is still plenty of time left in Green's commitment. However, as of now, the Crimson Tide is in a strong position with the four-star Edge rusher. Back in August, Green told On3's Chad Simmons that Alabama is currently his top choice in his recruitment. He emphasized his strong relationship with the coaching staff and noted how well they have treated him throughout his journey.

"Alabama is winning it for me right now." Green added, "The way they've recruited me and showed love, they took over that No.1 spot."
