Alabama leads Austin Peay 17-0 at the halfway point of an ugly game in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Bryce Young has gotten beat up, the wide receivers have struggled to get open, the Tide has turned the ball over twice, and the offensive play calling has been puzzling in moments.

There's plenty of good to take away from the first half, too. Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams, and Young combined for 107 ground yards in the first quarter and 161 in the half. 136 of those yards belong to McClellan alone.

Additionally, Jermaine Burton seems to have awoken in this game. He's caught all four of his targets for 56 yards and a touchdown. JoJo Earle has caught three passes for 17 yards, but no other receiver has more than one reception.

The turnovers have been a problem. The first came when an Austin Peay punt bounced off of Kendrick Law's back and the Governors recovered it to maintain possession. The second came on a fumble where Isaiah Bond caught the pass, but had it taken away from him by Demetries Ford before he hit the ground.

Young has been sacked three times and two of them have been a shot to the shoulder. He also took a substantial hit to his left shoulder on a scramble towards the end zone where he was stopped at the 1-yard line.

Defensively, things have been up and down. The Governors have not scored, but they've moved up and down the field with ease. Kool-Aid McKinstry ended a drive that looked like it might lead to the Governors' only points of the day by picking off Mike DiLello for his first interception of the season.

The Tide will look to pile on the points and get it together on defense in the second half.
