Series History: These two programs will meet for the 102nd time on Saturday with Alabama leading the all-time series with a 81-17-3 record. If the Crimson Tide wins on Saturday, it will give Nick Saban a 10-game winning streak over the Bulldogs. That won't be the longest of all-time, however, as Alabama reeled off 22 straight wins from 1958-1979. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has yet to beat the Tide in eight tries.
Last Meeting: Jalen Hurts had a career day in a 51-3 blowout win over the Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa. The true freshman passed for 347 yards and four touchdowns, both of those career highs that he hasn't matched since. Hurts also hurt Mississippi State with his legs, rushing 11 times for 100 yards and another touchdown. The Bulldogs couldn't get much going on offense all day against the top-ranked Crimson Tide. Nick Fitzgerald threw for 145 yards and ran for just 15 yards.
Last Week: Alabama was held to its second-lowest offensive output of the season and was actually outgained by LSU last Saturday. Defense and special teams were the difference for the Crimson Tide in a 24-10 victory over the top-20 Tigers. Alabama suffered some key injuries as Shaun Dion Hamilton and Mack Wilson were both lost for the regular season.
Mississippi State looked to have an easy matchup but UMass gave the Bulldogs everything they could handle. Trailing 20-13 at the half, Mississippi State outscored UMass 21-3 over the final two quarters to hold onto a 34-23 win in Starkville. The Bulldogs scored on offense, defense, and special teams on the way to their fourth straight win.
