Alabama used to regularly play one game a year at 8 p.m. CT against an SEC rival like Ole Miss or Arkansas. This is the first time Alabama will be playing a game starting at 8 p.m. CT  since 2019 when Tennessee traveled to Bryant Denny Stadium and lost 35-13.

This game will be the last of an era of the Alabama and Mississippi State rivalry. Next year, due to conference realignment, the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs will not square off ending a 107-year streak. The first matchup between these two schools was in 1896 and Alabama has dominated the rivalry 87-17-3.

Luckily for the Crimson Tide, its first SEC road game this year is the closest game to Tuscaloosa. Only 82 miles of US-82 W separates the two schools from one another. This is also the first time in their 107 history that the two teams will be meeting in September.

Currently, the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs have the same record of 2-1 in the early stages of the 2023 college football season. The Bulldogs and new head coach Zack Arnett look to end the 15-game winning streak Alabama has against Mississippi State.
