On Saturday the Alabama Crimson Tide (3-2) were defeated 64-56 by the Clemson Tigers (5-0) at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This game was a part of the Holiday Hoopsgiving showcase which was a first time ever event featuring several teams from the SEC including Kentucky and Auburn.

Alabama would come out in the first half struggling offensively shooting 0 for 7 from 3-point range and 31% from field-goal range. Leading the way for the Tide in the first half was senior guard Herbert Jones. Jones would finish the half with 12 points and 2 big steals, but Clemson would go into the locker room with the lead 34-30.

The second half would be much like the first half offensively for Alabama as the Tide would finish the game 3 for 22 on 3 point shooting and 17 for 56 from field goal range. Alabama would chip away at the lead and after two big three point shots from senior guard John Petty Jr and forward Jordan Bruner, Alabama would take the lead 55-54 with 6:10 to go in the game.

Clemson's offense and their tough defense would prove to much to handle for the Crimson Tide as the Tigers would go on to win the game 64-56.

"We were much better defensively in the second half of this game," Alabama head coach Nate Oats said. "I thought that was our bright spot tonight outside of making free-throws. We have to do better job, however, of not giving up the rebounds and give guys better shots. When you lose on second chance points, it is hard to win games."
