Alabama women’s golf senior Emma Talley has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, along with Georgia’s Harang Lee, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Talley had her most consistent weekend of the 2015-16 season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. In Friday’s round of stroke play, she carded a 1-under 71 to tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard. That score aided the Crimson Tide in earning the No. 3 seed in the Red bracket of match play.

The senior from Princeton, Ky., opened match play with a dominant 5-and-4 victory over Denver’s Jessica Dreesbeimdieke as Alabama won 4-1, then followed that up with a 3-and-2 decision over Georgia’s Bailey Tardy as part of the Tide’s 3.5-1.5 triumph. In Sunday’s championship match against No. 6 UCLA, Talley once again cruised, picking up another 5-and-4 win, this time over the Bruins’ Hadas Libman to help Alabama take down UCLA by a margin of 3-2 to clinch the team title.

Talley now has nine rounds of par or lower in the six events she has played in during her senior campaign. She is one of four Tide players with an average below 73.00 for the season. A total of 13 of the 16 rounds she has completed have counted towards the team’s overall score.

The Alabama women’s golf team now heads to Tempe, Ariz., for the PING/ASU Invitational, which begins on Friday, April 8.
