After winning an SEC championship at Birmingham’s Greystone Golf and Country Club, the Alabama Crimson Tide secured a spot in the NCAA Championships with a fourth place finish at the NCAA Regional in Birmingham.

Leading the way for Alabama is one of the program’s all-time greatest golfers in senior Emma Talley. The Princeton, Kentucky, native is the reigning 2015 NCAA individual champion and is preparing for her final collegiate tournament May 20 in Eugene, Oregon.

Talley discussed the origins of her golfing career in Kentucky, how she was introduced to the Alabama women’s golf program and her plans to turn pro on Inside the Locker Room.

The senior all-American announced that she will make her professional debut at the Symetra Tour’s Fuccillo Kia Championship June 3-5 in Albany, New York.

Talley described the recruiting process that got her to Tuscaloosa.

“They started recruiting me at a very young age. I remember seeing Coach (Mic) Potter watching me in middle school at some tournaments. I came on my first visit in eighth grade, and I fell in love with it. I knew in eighth grade that I loved the school.” Talley said.

The senior Crimson Tide golfer also detailed coach Mic Potter’s persistence in recruiting her and how she viewed him as a coach before her Alabama playing days.

“He (Mic Potter) watched me all the time. I would jump and he would be there. By the time it was time to make a decision, I knew that it was like Mic Potter was already my coach because I had seen around him so many times. The decision was real easy, honestly.” Talley said.

Inside the Locker Room airs every weekday from 7-9 AM on Tide 99.1 and the radioPup app.
