The Jon Cornish Trophy is given to the top Canadian college football player and has been awarded for the last five seasons. Metchie joins former Ohio State Buckeye Nathan Rourke as a back-to-back winner and former Oklahoma State Cowboy Chubba Hubbard as a Cornish winners.

Metchie III hauled in 96 passes from the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Bryce Young for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns in 2021 to lead the Tide to the national championship game. The 6-foot receiver unfortunately tore his ACL during the SEC Championship game, forcing him to miss the national championship game for the Tide in 2021.

Over the entirety of his three seasons with the Tide he's brought in 155 receptions for 2081 and 14 touchdowns. Metchie III is projected to be drafted in the next week's NFL Draft in the second or third round as the wide receiver position is loaded with talent this season.

Metchie III leaves Alabama with two SEC Championships, one national title and as a Second Team All-SEC member in 2021.
