Ricky Tarrant, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard from Pleasant Grove, Ala., was named SEC Player of the Week for his performance against UCLA on Sunday night.

The junior scored an Alabama career-high 24 points, including 18 points in the first half alone, as the Crimson Tide hung on to defeat UCLA 56-50. The Tulane transfer set the tone early for Alabama, scoring all but 11 of the Tide's 29 first half points. His big night included the game-winning free throw that gave the team a 51-50 lead with 49 seconds left.

Tarrant continues to shine in his first season for Anthony Grant's squad. He's second on the team in points (13.5), assists (1.8), and steals (1.5) per game. Sunday marked his third game of 20+ points in the first two months of the season.
