The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide knocked off the No. 11 Florida Gators 31-29 in the SEC opener for both schools. Following the sensational showdown in "The Swamp" the Southeastern Conference has named Will Anderson as Co-Defensive Player of The Week.

Anderson was credited with seven tackles against the Gators with 3.5 for a loss. He was also officially credited with one quarterback hurry on the stat sheet.

Anderson's effort is particularly impressive considering his status ahead of game-time. The sophomore left the Mercer game early with a knee strain and was day-to-day heading into Saturday's matchup against Florida.

"He was fine, he played more plays probably and got tired in the game, that was probably his biggest issue. I talked to him in the locker room after the game, I asked him if he had any issues, he said no. He said he did get tired in the game though," said Nick Saban after the contest.

Through three games in 2021. "The Terminator" has tallied 19 tackles with three for a loss and 1.5 sacks with numerous QB pressures. He is now fourth in the conference in tackles for a loss. Anderson's award is the first weekly honor of his Alabama career.

Anderson and the Alabama defense will take on Southern Miss in Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
