Bama Flips LSU Commitment on Signing Day
Many dreams of college scholarships and successful high school careers are being celebrated today as it is early signing day for high school football. The Alabama Crimson Tide entered the day expecting to sign the nation's No. 1 recruiting class and those efforts were aided today by a surprise flip.
Four-star defensive end, Keanu Koht signed his letter of intent today for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Koht had been committed to the LSU Tigers since July or 2020. Sal Sunseri and Pete Golding served as the primary recruiters for the Crimson Tide.
Koht is out of Vero Beach High School, the 247Sports Composite ranks him as the 12th defensive end in the nation and the 30th overall recruit in the state of Florida in this cycle.
The defensive end was named to the 2021 All-American Bowl that unfortunately will not be played this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and Charles Power describes him as, "long-limbed and rangy" and predicts him as a Power Five starter.
As a junior he helped his team notch an 11-1 record and make the Class 8A semifinals while accumulating 42 tackles, 14.5 for a loss and eight sacks.
His de-commitment from the LSU Tigers serves as another blow to the Tigers' program that has struggled to sustain success after its 2019 national championship.
