Bama in the NFL: Week Five Outlook
Week five of the 2025 NFL season is here and with it comes a few matchups featuring Crimson Tide stars in key roles. Several Bama stars are set up for big weeks as they look to keep momentum rolling or bounce back from slow starts. Let’s dive in.
Vikings at Browns – Sun. Oct. 5 (8:30 a.m. ct):
Will Reichard (Vikings) – The guy has been automatic so far this season, carrying his consistency from last season over to this one. Against a tough Cleveland defense that can force stops, his leg could end up being the deciding factor in a close game. Look for Reichard to continue proving he belongs as one of the league’s most reliable young specialists.
Jerry Jeudy (Browns) – Jeudy has the volume and the opportunities, but the Browns need him to turn targets into explosive plays. Minnesota’s secondary has been leaky at times, so if Flacco can get time, Jeudy has a real chance to break free down the field and spark this offense.
Dolphins at Panthers – Sun. Oct. 5 (Noon ct):
Bryce Young (Panthers) – Still searching for rhythm this season, Young gets another chance to show flashes of the playmaking that made him a top pick. Miami’s defense can create pressure, so how he handles blitzes will be the key to keeping this one competitive. Downfield plays with his young recievers will also be key if Hubbard is not in the lineup.
Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) – Tua enters this matchup in complete command of his offense, even without Tyreek Hill. Expect him to attack Carolina’s secondary early and often, especially off play-action where he’s been sharp all year.
Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) – Waddle continues to benefit from mismatches, but with no Tyreek Hill anymore it may be more difficult. His speed and route running will still be major problems for the Panthers’ corners. Look for him to stretch the field and be a difference-maker, as he is now the top wideout on this team.
Broncos at Eagles – Sun. Oct. 5 (Noon ct):
DeVonta Smith (Eagles) – Smith’s chemistry with Jalen Hurts is undeniable, and with defenses giving most of the attention to A.J. Brown, he often finds himself open in crucial spots. Against Denver’s secondary, he should have plenty of opportunities to move the chains and possibly find the end zone. Especially if Surtain is on Brown, and this rush defense for the Broncos still holds.
Jalen Hurts (Eagles) – Hurts continues to show poise leading Philadelphia’s offense. With his dual-threat ability, he forces defenses into tough decisions on every snap. Denver’s front will test him, but if he limits turnovers and stays patient, he should keep the Eagles rolling. But they need to have a balanced run to pass game plan for this one. Might be low scoring in this one.
Notable players to watch:
Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) - Facing a week Bengals run defense it should be another top performing game for Gibbs. He will absolutely be used in both aspects of the offensive game. Watch for more hard nose football from the Lions this week.
That does it for the week five outlook. Check back Tuesday for the recap!
