Alabama Crimson Tide midfielder Reyna Reyes has been named the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after her game-winning header in Friday's match with the No. 24 LSU Tigers in Tuscaloosa.

Reyes knocked LSU's chance at a conference win, scoring via a header in the 84th minute of the game. This is the sophomore's second goal of the 2021 season. The first came against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in the season-opener.

The 1-0 win for Alabama is the first win against a ranked team since a 1-0  win over the No. 15 Auburn Tigers on last November.

The UA midfielder took two shots early against the Tigers and nearly missed scoring on the first attempt as the ball hit the crossbar. Reyes is now tied for third on the team in goals.

LSU on record has an average of 19 shots on goal per game, averaging 2.9 goals. But, the Crimson tide held the Tigers to only nine attempts on goal during the duration of the contest. Only four of those shots were on frame for the Tigers on Friday.

This victory makes Alabama’s fourth consecutive win at its home stadium, and its seventh win overall this season. The Tide and its player of the week will return to the stage Thursday, October 7, at Fayetteville, Ark., to compete against the No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks.
