Saturday morning, former Troy punter Jack Martin announced his intentions to transfer to the University of Alabama to compete for the starting punter role for the Crimson Tide in 2021.

Martin, a Dothan, Alabama native, joined Southern Fried Sports to tell Travis Reier what went into his decision to join the juggernaut football program in Tuscaloosa.

"You honestly can't get any better, that's the best of the best," Martin said. "That does play a big part in it. Really, for me, I believe what made me want to go there was really just opportunity, especially just to play."

Martin grew up a Georgia Bulldogs fan, but couldn't turn down the opportunity to compete at Alabama in the effort to pursue his dreams of playing in the NFL.

"I feel like this is a great opportunity for myself, not only just because it's Alabama, but for my future as well."

Jack, who relinquished a full scholarship with the Trojans to join Alabama, will compete with incumbent starter Charlie Scott, brother of former All-American JK Scott, and Ty Perrine for the starting punter job this season. Martin also brings competition to the kickoff specialist position with place kicker Will Reichard, and could also be the All-American's backup for field goals and extra points.

The full interview with Jack Martin can be heard below. During the discussion, Martin talks about the process of being recruited in the Transfer Portal, handling every kicking duty despite the different techniques, what his role projects to be at Alabama and more.

Southern Fried Sports is hosted by Bama Online senior analyst Travis Reier every weekday from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
