Gary Parrish of CBS Sports kicked the college basketball hornet's nest on Monday morning when he reported that Alabama would make a hard run at Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall.

The perception of Alabama basketball caused a knee-jerk reaction from fans on Twitter, many of whom believe Bill Battle has lost his mind reaching for one of the hottest names in college basketball. While it's easy to point to the Crimson Tide's lack of NCAA Tournament success as a reason why a guy like Marshall, who could soon have his pick of elite programs, wouldn't accept an offer from Alabama, that perception is a bit short-sighted.

The school currently ranks 32nd all-time in college basketball wins with 1,581. That's the exact same amount as Michigan State, but Alabama has been playing the sport for 14 fewer years. That's not said to compare the two programs in 2015 but rather an example of the historical relevance and tradition of a university that often gets labeled as 'football only.'

Whether Marshall would make the move to Tuscaloosa is unknown at this time, but here are some of the reactions on Twitter today.
